Keep me from slipping

materials: Encaustic painting, lace garter belt, natural, oil, textile and linen canvas
A lace garter belt is a belt to keep stocking from slipping. It is a sexual symbol, fragile and elegant. It was in my belonging and I used it as a costume in performances. I started this work by painting different surfaces, ripping them into different forms and pieces and sewing them back together. The happening is repeating, over and over again.
In this work, the lace garter belt keeps the canvas from slipping away from itself. The painting is not rectangular and is unstretched. Ripped and sewed over and over again together, every time added materials, coal drawing and layers of wax. Cut into two pieces and stuck together with a lace garter. The work is a process of happenings, play with word and metaphors.
